Scholarships


SCHOLARSHIPS
The Chicago School is committed to enrolling a diverse and outstanding class; as such we offer several scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 for the upcoming academic year. In support of this effort, the following scholarships are awarded based on a variety of criteria including, but not limited, to financial need, academic excellence, mission based, and community involvement and service. SCHOLARSHIP REMARKS

  • Candidates must have applied for admissions to The Chicago School by the application deadline.
  • Candidates are reviewed automatically and scholarships are generally awarded at the time of acceptance.
  • Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time academic status, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the Merit and Dean's Scholarships, a cumulative GPA of 3.2 for the President's Scholarship, and satisfactory academic progress to remain eligible.
  • Awards are dispersed over two semesters in equal installments and applied directly to the recipient's account in the second week of the term. 
  • In addition to meeting the minimum individual scholarship criteria outlined below, awards are limited and based on a holistic review of the candidate's admissions application.  

To automatically qualify for scholarship consideration, applications for admissions must be submitted by the Scholarship Priority Deadline of April 1, 2012.


MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Recipients of the Merit Scholarship are selected based on their excellent academic achievement. To be eligible for consideration applicants must be applying to our on-campus programs and fulfill the following criteria:

  • Be a new incoming student
  • Be a domestic student
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or a combined GRE score of 1300 (test taken prior to August 1, 2011), or a combined GRE score of 314 (test taken on or after August 1, 2011)
Award Amount:  up to $10,000
(Renewable up to three years for full-time five year degree programs and up to two years for full-time programs that are four or less years in length)


PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP
Recipients of the President's Scholarship are selected based on their academic promise and dedication to The Chicago School Mission - commitment to diversity and community service. To be eligible for consideration applicants must be applying to our on-campus programs and fulfill the following criteria: 

  • Be a new incoming student
  • Be a domestic student
  • Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.30 or higher for post-bachelor's programs 
  • Have a graduate GPA of 3.5 or higher for post-master's programs
Award Amount:  up to $7,000 (Non-renewable)


DEAN'S SCHOLARSHIP
Recipients of the Dean's Scholarship are selected based on their past dedication and anticipated future contributions to service, academic excellence, and The Chicago School. To be eligible for consideration applicants must be applying to an on-campus program and fulfill the following criteria:

  • Be a new incoming student
  • Demonstrated prior service contributions, academic excellence, and achievements
Award Amount:  up to $5,000 (Non-renewable)



GLOBAL IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP
Recipients of the Global Impact Scholarship are international students selected based on an essay submission, which shares their story of the journey from their home country to The Chicago School and how their education will help them impact the field of psychology.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be new or returning international students and enrolled to an on-campus program. Click here to learn more about criteria for eligibility.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR DISADVANTAGED

The Chicago School is a proud recipient of a 2011 grant award from the U.S. Department Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration. TCSPP received $166,870 in scholarship funding to support students from economically or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds:

"For the purposes of the SDS program, an individual from a disadvantaged background is one who comes from an environment that has inhibited the individual from obtaining the knowledge, skill, and abilities required to enroll in and graduate from a health professions school or from a program providing education or training in an allied health profession(s)."

The SDS grant,  established by the Disadvantaged Minority Health Improvement Act of 1990 (P.L. 101-527),  is intended to support the development, distribution and retention of a diverse, culturally competent health workforce that can adapt to the population's changing health care needs and provide the highest quality care for all.

Qualifications:  To apply for this scholarship students must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time for the throughout the 2011-2012 academic year in one of the following degree programs:

  • Psy.D. Clinical Psychology (Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.)
  • M.A. Clinical Psychology, Counseling Specialization (Chicago)
  • M.A. Counseling Psychology (Washington, D.C.)
  • M.A. Marital and Family Therapy (Los Angeles,  Irvine, Westwood)
