Industrial & Organizational Psychology Programs

Employment opportunities for I/O psychology professionals tend to be concentrated in business, industry, and government settings, applying strategies for improving individual and group performance within areas such as human resources, training and development, consulting, professional administration, or marketing.

Psychology professionals trained in I/O approaches may use these methods to help improve personnel selection and development processes; assess organizational weaknesses and design appropriate interventions; resolve conflict; and understand cross-cultural intelligence. They try to create positive work environments and foster individual and organizational success.

Graduates of the Human Resource Management Concentration within the Internship Track at our Chicago Campus are prepared to take the PHR or SPHR Certification Examination after meeting the minimum requirement of one year of HR generalist experience. This program has been validated by the Society for Human Resource Management as aligning with their curriculum.
