A pair of TCSPP professors plunged into discussion about the universality of the Superman mythos Jan. 26 at the Chicago Campus.

Hosted by the Department of Forensic Psychology, the event featured Professors James Iaccino and Jenna Dondero discussing their research on Jungian archetypal themes and Nitzche’s Ubermensch through the lens of the comic book story of Superman. In particular, they explored the parental dynamics that contributed to Clark Kent’s decision to become the Man of Steel. Both can be seen on a featurette titled “The Son Becomes the Father” that is included in the latest DVD box set of the television program Smallville.
