Nirmeen Rajani, student in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at the Chicago Campus, was honored at the 2012 Secretary of State’s Celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. She received a Humanitarian Service Award by the Illinois Secretary of State, Jesse White on May 9, 2012. Ms. Rajani is an appointed Board Member for the Social Welfare Board and is responsible for implementing sustainable Mental Health Literacy Programs in different South Asian and Muslim communities. Ms. Rajani also trains other volunteers in reducing stigma associated with mental illness and helps to raise awareness about mental health. Ms. Rajani presented at TCSPP’s Cultural Impact Conference in January on diversity and her Islamic culture and religion in order to educate future clinicians.
