After bipolar disorder ultimately led their daughter to commit suicide 13 years ago, Evanston couple Larry and Marilyn Cohen set out to help reduce the negative stigma branded to mental health conditions by founding what today is The Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education, named in memory of their daughter.
