CurrentTrips: Psychology in the West Bank & Gaza
Psychologists in both the West Bank and Gaza generally obtained their training in other countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Europe, or the United States. This is likely because there do not seem to be any graduate programs available, though The University of Gaza does offer some post-graduate courses. Research in this area has had a special focus on trauma and motivational factors behind suicide bombings which are fitting to the political situation (Costin, 2006).

Welcome to the International Travel & Programs Blog for Study Abroad Opportunities. Participants in these trips will be regularly posting about their experiences. As a part of The Chicago School Community, you will have first-hand information from the participants themselves and be able to learn from their involvement in international psychology. Thus far, we have prepared blogs for the Puerto Rico, Thailand, Malta, and Sri Lanka. Stay tuned for future blogging in the next few days as students are preparing for Israel and the West Bank.

Being able to practice psychology in Israel is a very similar process to that of the United States. A master's degree is required as well as an additional 2 years of clinical experience - very similar to the LCPC track. However, it appears that Israeli psychology students have a more thorough knowledge base as they spend more years on their education. Obtaining a BA in Israel can be accomplished in 3 years but a MA often takes 3-5 years to complete. Students who then wish to pursue a Ph.D. program would graduate in an additional 5 years (Sexton & Hogan, 1992).
