Biographical Sketch

Dean Chung earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with honors from Williams College. Chung leads SLC Consultants’ corporate strategy practice where he advises senior client executives on strategic direction and market opportunities. Chung’s client work includes the evaluation of the market/business model viability of the healthcare venture for a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company; the formulation of growth strategy for a national corrugated paper company; and the development of corporate strategy and business unit strategies for a national leader in cash registers and technology. For Zeneca, an agricultural chemicals manufacturer, Chung developed a multi-tier channel strategy and implementation plan.

Prior to SLC, for 15 years Chung was a leader in strategy, business development, and sales for Lucent Technology and IBM. He also was president of an Internet software development startup, personally responsible for leading product development, marketing/sales alliances, and venture capital funding. Chung is the co-author of a method of Internet communications (U.S. patent pending).

For Lucent Technologies, Chung developed the strategy of Lucent’s Services Business and key global strategic initiatives. He also managed four departments including Strategic Planning, M&A/Alliances, Market Assessment and Research, and Portfolio Management. For Lucent’s Global Service Provider division, Chung was responsible for developing the $20 billion channel strategy for the Service Provider segment and led the GSP strategic initiatives that included 45 global managers. Additionally, he managed the Y2K business policy, led teams of consultants/Lucent personnel in the international Broadband Access Initiative, led the International Sales Force automation project, and constructed the Network Systems International strategy.
