Event: “Applied Behavior Analysis: Evidence Based Solutions for Helping People,” a one-day conference hosted by the L.A. Campus Department of ABA and the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies. The conference features nationally and internationally recognized speakers with expertise in evidence-based practices in science, reading, educational practices, and other behavioral applications.

Who: This event is headlined by Andy Bondy, Ph.D., William Heward, Ed.D., Jane Howard, Ph.D., Henry S. Pennypacker, Ph.D., and Janet Twyman, Ph.D. The conference co-chairs are Dr. Rob Holdsambeck of CCBS and Dr. Rachel Findel-Pyles, chair of the ABA Department at TCS LA.

Background:

The conference chairs, and the organizations that they represent, embody the broad-based array of behaviorally-based technologies and approaches to helping improve the lives of people.

CCBS is a charitable, nonprofit organization that encourages the use of behavioral science in solving human problems. Its mission is to “advance the scientific study of behavior and its humane application to the solution of practical problems, including the prevention and relief of human suffering.” Its website at www.behavior.org serves as a resource for behavior analytic information, job postings, and information on behavioral applications to a wide array of populations such as gerontology, philosophy, behavioral safety, brain injury, animal behavior, autism, education, and parenting.

The Los Angeles Campus Applied Behavior Analysis program is dedicated to being the premiere graduate training program in ABA, with an emphasis in teaching its students the concepts, principles, and skills needed to practice as competent and highly qualified behavior analysts. L.A. Campus faculty and students provide services in a wide array of clinical settings, including regular and special education, business and industry, autism, developmental disabilities, and sports and fitness.
