Eligibility
All program and affiliate faculty with current contracts at The Chicago School are eligible.
The Award
Each recipient will receive $5,000 during the year of his/her award and release from three hours of teaching. The recipient will be honored at a presentation during which he or she will speak to the community about the work that merited receiving the award. The recipient’s program will receive the financial equivalent of three credit hours to cover the released time given the recipient.
Nomination Procedure
All members of the community may submit a one-page letter nominating a faculty member. Self-nominations, as well as nominations of previous nominees, are welcome. Previous recipients are not eligible. Letters of nomination must include your name and email address.
Selection Procedure
Following review of the one-page letters of nomination, the "Selection Committee" will ask for further information on a select number of nominations. Materials submitted should be a “min portfolio” with examples of the nominees’ accomplishments – i.e., vitae, letters of colleague support, letters of current and past student support, evidence of the extraordinary success of a nominee’s superior ability in the teaching/learning process relevant to the appropriate award.
Selection Committee
Members of the selection committee include the past award recipients; one faculty member-at-large elected by the Faculty Council; the director of the Center for Multicultural and Diversity Studies; the faculty council chair; and the vice president of academic affairs.
