Biographical Sketch
Dr. Nancy Zarse was the 1996 recipient of The Chicago School’s Distinguished Alumni Award. Prior to returning to her alma mater to teach—first as an adjunct professor, now an associate professor—Dr. Zarse served as a forensic psychologist at several high-profile correctional settings. Previous positions include the director of inmate administration for the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and chief psychologist at two federal prisons. Dr. Zarse’s responsibilities at these prisons included administrative and supervisory duties, leading hostage negotiation teams, staff training, providing individual and group therapy, performing psychological evaluations, conducting violation hearings for maximum security military prisoners, and personnel interviews. Dr Zarse has received a number of awards for training and public speaking. She was invited to address the national APA convention, and was the keynote speaker for Women's History Month, Fort Leavenworth, Dept. of the Army.
