Biographical Sketch

Dr. Abdul-Adil specializes in evidence-based, culturally-sensitive interventions for urban youth with behavioral and emotional problems, including conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, gang involvement, and traumatic reactions to community violence. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he serves as the Associate Director of the Disruptive Behavior Clinic in the Colbeth Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic in the Institute for Juvenile Research. In addition, Dr. Abdul-Adil is the co-founder of Young Warriors, a media-based intervention that uses modern Rap music and Hip-Hop media to promote critical thinking and prosocial skills in urban adolescents. He remains involved in developing other innovative youth interventions, including academic-community partnerships faith-based initiatives.
