Focus Program

The Focus Program is a five-day workshop for incoming students, held on campus the week before fall classes start. This interactive and experiential program prepares students for the demands of graduate level academics, while introducing them to campus life and the college community.

Students concentrate on the following areas:

  • Academic writing for the psychology professional (content, formatting, grammar, citations, etc.)
  • Studying and critical thinking skills
  • Managing schedules and academic stress
  • Creating a balanced and healthy student life
Focus Program Goals

Informed by the mission of The Chicago School and the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) , the goals of the Focus Program are:

  • To encourage student academic success in the graduate psychology programs
  • To contribute to The Chicago School learning community
  • To increase the number of well-prepared, confident graduates entering the field of psychology
