Leader Accelerator
The Leader Accelerator Program for Nonprofit Executives
Preparing the Next Generation of Leaders

The need
Seventy-five percent of today’s nonprofit executives are planning to leave their current positions by 2010 (and 10 percent are already launching their exit strategies). At a time when nonprofit operational issues are more complex than ever, boards of directors, CEOs, and presidents recognize that aggressively preparing the next generation of nonprofit leaders is both essential and urgent.

The solution
In response to the pressing need for leadership training within the nonprofit community, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights have created The Leader Accelerator Program for Nonprofit Executives. This intensive training curriculum—combining in-person coursework and coaching with online learning—equips nonprofit managers and directors to take stock of their leadership styles, become more effective coaches and mentors, and develop practical and strategic skills for navigating the increasingly complex world of nonprofit management in the 21st century.

Participants benefit from:

  • 24 half-day, in-person workshops led by proven leaders with decades of knowledge and experience
  • Six concurrent online self-management courses and interactive tutorials designed to supplement and amplify workshop content
  • Individual coaching
  • A leadership-style assessment
  • Provocative readings and peer discussions
  • Applied learning in which participants dissect current issues their organizations are facing and build strategic plans for addressing those issues
