Meetings 1 and 2:  Defining Effective Leadership
During these introductory sessions, participants develop an awareness of how leaders function as catalysts within a process. Using a leadership style inventory, participants assess their individual strengths and developmental areas relative to the demands of their particular roles. Major theories of leadership are introduced, along with the art of writing action plans for themselves and their direct reports. Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 1.

Meetings 3 and 4:  Driving Results
Getting results is the focus of these sessions, as participants learn how to sets goals, stay focused in ambiguous situations, add value to processes, and meet or exceed all performance targets. Particular emphasis is placed on measuring results in business terms to maximize both material and personal resources. Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 1.

Meetings 5 and 6:  Building Leadership Capacity
Participants receive the results of their leadership style inventories and begin work with their mentors/coaches. The reports provide useful guidelines to help participants recognize which elements of their leadership styles make their jobs easier and which may work against them. During Meeting 6, participants learn how to craft and implement professional development plans for direct reports, which supports building future leadership for the sector. Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 2.

Meetings 7 and 8:  Building Ethical Organizations
The role of the leader comes with the obligation to act with integrity. Participants identify how leaders’ values are transmitted to their organizations. During these sessions, each participant clearly identifies her or his own values and builds on the skills that get results in socially responsible and ethical leadership. Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 2.

Meetings 9 and 10:  Building The Vision
Transformational leaders—those who inspire their colleagues and help their followers develop an identity with the values and purpose of the organization—have very clearly articulated visions that serve as a beacon for organizational development. Participants learn how to craft visions that serve to guide decision making, resource allocation, and strategic planning. Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 3.

Meetings 11 and 12:  Developing Others
The key to retaining top talent is to help each professional grow and develop. A leader who develops others identifies their strengths, cultivates and nurtures their abilities, and fosters self- awareness by providing feedback in a way that leads to leveraging strengths and improving upon developmental areas relative to the demands of the role. During these sessions, participants learn advanced techniques of coaching and mentoring others. Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 3.

Meetings 13 and 14:  Being a Motivating Leader
Building on the skills developed in earlier sessions, participants learn to create work environments that motivate colleagues.  Participants follow- up on the developmental plans of their direct reports begun in the earlier parts of the course.  Particular emphasis is placed on having difficult conversations and holding people accountable for performance.  Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 4.

Meetings 15 and 16:  Sharing Success
Participants present the results of their Action Learning Plans development plans they have created for themselves and their direct reports.  Particular attention is paid to sharing experiences that benefit the development of others. Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 4.

Meetings 16 through 24:  Building on the Foundation
During these sessions, advanced coaching and planning skills are addressed and participants take turns facilitating the group on timely topics and networking. Time during these sessions is also devoted to the discussion of the materials presented in Online Session 4 and 5.
