My doctorate is in Human Resource Development - Adult education. This includes teaching in areas of organization development, organizational effectiveness and learning, quality improvement and qualitative research methods. My professional life in business psychology has primarily been in an Employee Assistance Programming. I worked with many companies and labor unions in the twin Cities as well as serving as the managed care coordinator for the Ford Motor Assembly plant in Minnesota. I worked as a counselor, supervisor, and manager of provider operations for United Healthcare's EAP units.
I believe in the power of education and psychology. If we are involved in a developing knowledge to make things better for all - it would seem that education and psychology are a significant part of both the process and the product. Some questions I am interested in: How can effectiveness can be balanced with issues of power and perspective? The relationships between adult development, work/life and building environments where learning is encouraged, knowledge development, understanding and appreciating culture, looking at learning in international contexts, and online learning, are also areas I would like to explore further .
