Biography
Dr. Carl D. Sneed is an Associate Professor at California State University, Dominguez Hills and part-time lecture at the Chicago School of Psychology where he teaches elementary, advanced statistics, and social bases of behavior. Dr. Sneed began his tenure at Dominguez Hills in the Fall of 2005. Prior to coming to Dominguez Hills, he was a researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles in the School of Public Health for 10 years. While at UCLA, Dr. Sneed served as the Associate Director of the Assessment Core for the Center for HIV Identification, Prevention, and Treatment Services (CHIPTS). As Associate Director, he was primarily responsible for helping researchers and evaluators from community based organizations (CBO’s) and universities develop the assessments and evaluation protocols for their grants and research projects. Dr. Sneed also provided consultation to Reach LA in Los Angeles on the evaluation of an HIV prevention program for high-risk minority youth. And, he has also worked with Advocates for Youth (a community based organization) on their evaluation of a poster campaign focusing on HIV testing and counseling issues for adolescents (including a campaign for Spanish Speakers in Los Angeles County). His formal experience includes numerous collaborations with students. Dr. Sneed has consulted and collaborated with three NIH Forgarty Fellows working in foreign countries on issues of adolescent sexual risk behavior. These collaborations resulted in the publication of three manuscripts in peer reviewed journals (Kinsler, Sneed, & Morisky, 2003, 2004; Park et al., 2002). He has 23 publications in peer reviewed journal articles and is currently working on a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on parent-child communication about sex.
