Biography

Dr. Jennifer DeFeo, a native New Yorker, graduated with her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara in 2002 and Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology with a Health Track from the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant) in 2008. Dr. DeFeo is presently core faculty of the Psyd/MFT Program at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Irvine, California.

Areas Of Expertise

Specializing in working with the severely mentally ill populations in both inpatient and outpatient care, as well as in the New York State psychiatric hospital system, and multiple forensic settings, Dr. DeFeo’s specialty additionally extends to children and adolescents, family, gangs, LGBT, and HIV/AIDS populations. 

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. DeFeo has extensive experience in Agency Management. In 2003, Dr. DeFeo was the LGBT youth center manager in San Diego, which catered to youth ages 14-24, and developed crisis intervention, social and counseling groups, and implemented the HIV/AIDS Youth Project. In 2007, Dr. DeFeo assisted in starting the Wraparound program at Hollygrove Children and Family Services in Hollywood, California. In 2010, Dr. DeFeo developed and implemented the Family Finding Program and oversaw Wraparound services at Southcoast Community Services in Ontario, California. 

Dr. DeFeo began teaching at Pasadena City College in 2007, where she conducted foster home certification courses for individuals wishing to become a licensed foster care home provider. Such courses were included, but not limited to psychopharmacology, behavioral intervention, and LGBT issues. In 2008, Dr. DeFeo began her journey working as an adjunct for Antioch University. In 2010, Dr. DeFeo transitioned to the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where she is presently core faculty. 

Dr. DeFeo has served as a board member for organizations such as PFLAG, Youth Pride San Diego, Susan Cusamano Breast Cancer Foundation, and California Marriage Equality. Dr. DeFeo presently serves as a board member of the Norooz Clinic in Irvine, California.
