Incorporating Acceptance & Commitment Therapy into Applied Behavior Analysis Services – Irvine campus
October 25 @ 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm PDT
Join Heidi Eilers, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Assistant Chair of our Behavior Analysis Department, for this special presentation. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT; Hayes, Strosahl, and Wilson, 2003) is an evidence-based approach based on behavior analysis principles that is focused on addressing rule-governed behavior, self-control, self-management, behavior maintained by escape/avoidance of experiencing unpleasant private events (e.g., interfering thoughts, unpleasant emotions) and increasing values-driven behavior. This workshop will introduce participants to the ACT model and will teach participants to identify appropriate target behaviors and appropriate ACT-based interventions that can be incorporated into behavior plans while staying within the scope of practice of applied behavior analysis services.
