Mental health practitioners have training and skills in working with clients individuals. Mental health practitioners have training and skills in working with clients individually. It is not as common for them to have the training and experience in working with interpersonal relationships. It is a different discipline that requires a new set of skills. Instead of working with each partner back and forth as separate units in the therapy, the relationship can be addressed as a unit of itself. The presenter will provide research, videos, and transcripts to demonstrate the applications of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in action. There will be breakout sessions with case examples for attendees to role play therapist and client to help facilitate applying different EFT techniques when working with clients. The presenter will also discuss the challenges of working with couples, the paradigm shift on how to view the client, and how to apply these concepts into practice.
