Overview of Psychopharmacology

This program will cover basic psychopharmacology for the non-physician involved in mental health care. Working knowledge of mental health disorders is necessary. The presentation will cover most aspects of care including mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders. Aspects of psychopharmacological management within special populations such as children and adolescents will be included. Attendees will leave with a basic understanding of why certain medications are utilized and how to communicate more effectively with a prescribing physician.
About the speaker:
Dr. Corey Goldstein is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Associate Clinical Director of the Treatment Research Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Goldstein’s expertise is in the diagnosis and pharmacological management of psychiatric disorders. His research interests include depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and treatment resistance. Dr. Goldstein has served as the primary and sub-investigator on several clinical trials funded by the pharmaceutical industry and the National Institute of Mental Health.
