Self-Forgiveness Interventions Among Substances Abusers – DC campus

Feelings of shame and guilt associated with alcohol use are often a potent catalyst for further future alcohol use. Not only this an aspect of alcohol use commonly overlooked in traditional treatment, but sometimes even exacerbated. This presentation looks at utilizing self-forgiveness as an emotion-focused coping intervention to reduce feelings of shame associated with alcohol use and promoting drinking refusal self-efficacy.
