The Interesting World of Sport Psychology

Sport Psychology is a relatively new field to the consumer. Although it has been a part of professional sports and the Olympics forover 20 years, it has only begun to hit mainstream in the last five years. During this presentation, the history of sport psychology aswell as the current status and future of the field will be discussed. In addition, the presenter will discuss the biases in the field and thefocus on diversity.
About the speaker:
Wendy Borlabi, Psy.D. is currently working with the Chicago Bulls and is founder of Borlabi Consulting, a performance psychologyfirm. She is also an independent consultant with the National Basketball Association. Dr. Borlabi worked for the United StatesOlympic Committee (USOC) at its training center in San Diego, California for six years (two Winter Olympic and one Summer OlympicGames). Dr. Borlabi also co-founded Acumen Performance Group (APG) along with six current and ex-Navy SEALs. They developeda program that integrated the SEALs real-world experience and applied it in both the development and application of the high-performance concepts of seamless teamwork, mental toughness, and unwavering confidence.
