Biography

Dr. Benson-Florez recently joined the Clinical Psychology faculty and received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was a full time faculty member for four years in the Clinical Psychology Department at the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy U./Phoenix campus. He completed his internship at the Multicultural Internship of Massachusetts. Dr. Benson-Florez recently completed a Post Doctoral placement at Southwest Behavioral Health in Phoenix, AZ primarily serving Spanish speaking Latinas/os seeking individual, family and group therapy. He has extensive experience in community mental health settings primarily serving Spanish speaking Latinas/os and other diverse ethnic minority groups displaying a wide range of mental health issues. Dr. Benson-Florez is actively engaged in research and some of his interests include psychosocial issues such as acculturation and ethnic idenitity with Latinas/os. He is also interested in sociopolitical factors in psychology such as immigration/migration experiences that impact Latinas/os and other minority groups. Social justice and international psychology are other areas of his research interests.
