Dr. Gilmore began teaching for The Chicago School in Summer 2012, and came on board as a part-time faculty member in Summer 2013. He has extensive experience both as a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, having supervised psychology trainees at both the extern and intern level while on staff at the Alexandria Mental Health Center and at the Counseling Center at American University. He has taught numerous seminars to psychology trainees on topics in psychotherapy as well as psychological assessment. In addition, he has provided training on working effectively with LGBT clients in therapy. He is a clinical psychologist with a private psychotherapy practice in Washington, DC. He also conducts group therapy in the Continuing Care program of the Kolmac Clinic, an outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Areas of clinical and research interest include trauma, addictions, anxiety disorders, depression, and mindfulness as well as emerging therapeutic approaches such as Somatic Experiencing and Brainspotting.
