Anita O'Conor is a licensed clinical social worker, who received her MSW from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Her career has focused on healing and treating trauma, securing justice for survivors, developing trauma informed systems and training students and professionals on traumatic stress. She is currently lead faculty for the trauma concentration in the Counseling Psychology department. Ms. O'Conor utilizes a systems and strength-based approach, within the context of trauma exposure primarily resulting from human rights violations.

Ms. O'Conor has provided individual/group/family therapy for multicultural populations; this work has included trauma recovery groups for women involved in the criminal justice and CHIPS systems, charter membership in a resiliency building nonprofit agency, and clinical consultation for a sexual abuse treatment program for children/adolescents. She has 20 years experience as a site supervisor for graduate students. Ms. O'Conor teaches Seminar/Internship classes and trauma classes within the Counseling Psychology department.
