I joined the Online Campus in November 2009 where I have served students as an Academic Success Coach (ASC) in the B.A. program and an Applied Research Instructor in the M.A. program. In my role current role, as an ASC, I help adult learners master their time management, prioritization and planning, organization, relationship building, writing, and APA skills. Prior to working at TCS, I advised a highly diverse group of students attending a Pharm.D. program in Hawaii.

I received my Bachelor's in Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and my Master's in Community Counseling from Argosy University in Chicago, Illinois. While completing my Master's degree, I worked as a therapy intern at House Calls Counseling, an in-home psychotherapy provider, providing services to foster children suffering from Reactive Attachment Disorder. While working at House Calls, I also counseled children and families at George Armstrong School of International Studies.

My teaching and coaching philosophy has largely been informed by my counseling background. I believe learning is a lifelong process - one that requires discipline and a desire to expand one's outlook to include new perspectives and possibilities. To that end, I understand the most effective coaches are those who invest in their students and who make an honest effort to understand each person's culture, learning style, and needs. Providing empathy, enthusiasm, and support are all crucial components of a successful coaching/student relationship that can inspire both individuals to learn and progress.

Outside of the workplace, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring Portland, OR.
