Ileana Torres is the Senior Applied Research Project Instructor for the MAP Online Program. Ileana joined TCSPP in 2009. She earned a B.A. in Applied Psychology at the University of Illinois and a M.A. in Community Counseling and Human Services from Roosevelt University. Before joining TCSPP, Ileana was coordinating a family literacy program which served adults and children in the community. She also taught English as a Second Language for adults at Moraine Vally Community College. As a counselor, Ileana provided mental health services to diverse populations including individuals, couples, and families. Her experiences also include working with children and families to enhance growth and development in the areas of education, health, nutrition, and social services for a CEDA Head Start program. Overall, her background in program evaluation, grant writing, and the development of trainings and workshops on topics such as child development, parenting, community resources, and language aquisition are what have provided her with knowledge and experience that she brings to her role as Senior ARP Instructor.
Her research interests are focused on online learning, the integration of technology is various educational settings, and role of emotion and motivation in online learning.
