On June 7, 2017, friends and supporters of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP) came together at the inaugural Mental Health Heroes Awards Luncheon to celebrate mental health advocates and raise critical funds for community-based treatment.
Held at the Olympic Collection in West Los Angeles, the Luncheon honored those who have improved treatment, raised public awareness, and reduced the stigma of mental illness, substance use disorder, and suicide. Honorees were Shari Farmer, a community outreach coordinator with the Bureau of Victim Services, Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office; Roozbeh Farahanipour, the president of the West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; Zakiya, the co-founder of Rooted in Student Excellence; and Florencia Rams and Elena Uliantzeff community/school liaisons for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District PTA.
Benefiting the TCSPP Counseling Centers in Los Angeles and Irvine, California, the event sustained The Chicago School’s longstanding tradition of providing affordable mental health care to community members. The Centers offer—on a sliding scale—therapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups; psychological testing; domestic violence treatment; and educational seminars.
We extend our warmest thanks to our 2017 sponsors, especially to Platinum Sponsor The King Family Trust.
