“Empathy is when we take the perspective of another. Radical empathy is when we have a radically different perspective than another, and we know it, and we work hard to understand the other perspective,” says Dr. Langtiw. “Now it doesn’t mean that we condone the other perspectives that are harmful, but it means that we’re working really hard to understand why another person or another group of people might think or feel a certain way.”
