The Chicago School enrolls more than 6,000 students across the country and makes a major impact in each of its local communities: Washington, D.C.; Dallas; Chicago; and Southern California. In this article, President Michele Nealon, Psy.D., describes how The Chicago School is making a difference in the nation’s capital.
In Washington, D.C., our 600+ students learn how to make a difference in their communities within 13 distinct academic programs across the certificate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
Our students achieve change-making impact before they even graduate through partnerships with local organizations such as Achieving True Self, Continuum Autism Spectrum Alliance, and the Child Guidance Clinic at the DC Superior Court.
In Washington, we play a key role in addressing gaps in access to expert, culturally competent care. Our local students, faculty, and staff are committed to daily impact for those in need in this community. For instance, through a partnership with Central Union Mission, we recently provided much-needed supplies, such as blankets and hygiene kits, to those around us struggling with housing insecurity.
In addition, we will continue to grow our investment in Washington in the years ahead with the development of our proposed Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine. Through this new college, we will extend our mission of bringing integrated care to more communities through Washington-area clinical training opportunities with organizations including Chippenham Hospital in Richmond.
