Leslie Rutkowski, Ph.D., is a statistician with a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Illinois. She has worked all over the world and has a background in quantitative research technology as well as extensive expertise in the field of international assessment of academic performance.
One of Dr. Rutowski’s areas of focus is understanding why students from some countries perform better on standardized math and reading comprehension testing than students from other countries. She is also committed to countering arguments based on test results that suggest populations that perform poorly are less intelligent. As for academic testing in the U.S., Dr. Rutkowski says that while educational standards vary from state to state, the National Assessment for Educational Progress test is a good measure of student performance.
