“Creating a culture of community among students miles apart is a very difficult task; it involves the willful participation of both students and faculty members alike,” she says.
In counseling education, personal development is just as important as learning how to engage with others. A culture of community is necessary to build that self-knowledge. Providing a culture of community seems like it would be a particular challenge for an online program.
“The Clinical Mental Health Counseling online program here at the Chicago School has managed to create a sense of family,” JeSara says. “This program explores the art and the science of helping others by first helping self.”
JeSara closed with how she has grown since entering the program. “I am certain to leave this program not only a well-equipped counselor, but also a progressive thinker, a self-healer, and an advocate for those without a voice.”
