Student Jeffrey Butscher learned how variety can be the spice of life early in life. “I was born in Minnesota as a military brat, who immediately moved to London till age four, then back to North Carolina. After stints on the East Coast, I moved to California in 1986 and never looked back.”

It was in California where the movie bug bit Jeffrey. “My bug with entertainment goes back almost 30 years, starting as an extra in a Brian DePalma film starring John Travolta. I do well behind the screen as a producer and writer. Recently I returned to the business with a show, entitled Red Hot Design. And miraculously enough a film I created, co-wrote and executive produced, entitled Timecrafters: The Treasure of Pirates Cove, released in theaters nationwide December 12, 2020,” he explains with glee.

Elaborating, Jeffrey says that Timecrafters is the fruit of many years of labor. “This has been a long journey of over 20 years. I met my co-writer on the first film I produced, and we shared in the folklore of the North Carolina Outer Banks. We both grew up in the area. I am also fascinated by time travel. To then get a theatrical release based on the talent, story, and the production quality was exceptional. I am already working on a series spinoff concept with my co-writer and our producer/director.”

In addition to movie making, real estate is another area of passion for Jeffrey. “I got into real estate based on my first home purchase in the South Bay back in the early 90s. Today, I am with Strand Hill, a top brokerage with over 1 billion in sales. I never really transitioned from real estate into the film business but pursued both concurrently. One satisfies my sales and business side, and one satisfies my creative soul.”

It comes as no surprise that Jeffrey is constantly learning and his many degrees are a testimony to this. “My path is a bit different than most. I am not looking to climb the corporate ladder, but to gain more knowledge, learn, and keep my mind sharp. I studied mathematics at UNC and took classes in economics and AI in business strategy at Oxford and then MIT respectively. I chose The Chicago School because business psychology fit my background and interests in consulting. I do believe if armed with a Ph.D., I will be a more bona fide writer and anticipate possibly writing a book. And while I may not teach, I will find an avenue to share my experience with others through mentorship and leadership.”
