The Chicago Campus’ third annual Social Impact Leaders Award Luncheon is kicking off March 19 at 11:30 a.m.! Join us at Maggiano’s Ballroom at 111 W. Grand Avenue for an afternoon of inspiration, good food and conversation. The Social Impact Leaders Awards is a celebration of Chicago-area mental health advocates who work to have positive impact in the community.Â
This year we honor Anthony Ramirez-Di Vittorio, founder of Becoming a Man® (BAM®), for his work with thousands of students from at-risk environments. Anthony founded BAM® to help young men navigate those difficult circumstances that can threaten their futures. BAM creates a safe space for young men to express themselves openly, receive support, and develop social and emotional skills that help them stay on the path to success while making positive life choices. Today, the BAM® program serves more than 8,000 students across 140 schools – truly making a tremendous positive difference in the Chicago community. Â
Erie Neighborhood House is The Chicago School’s first ever community partner. The oldest operating settlement house in Chicago, Erie has been empowering the city’s immigrant and low-income communities through education, access to legal services, health programs, and advocacy for 150 years. Mental health advocate and retired Illinois State Health Department Regional Health Officer for Cook County Joseph Harrington is our emcee. A native Chicagoan, Joe has decades of experience working in education, social services, mental health, and public health. He is an avid mental health advocate who continues to serve his community. Â
All proceeds of the luncheon will be dedicated to scholarships for continuing students at our Chicago Campus, and the Mental Health First Aid training provided through the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.Â
