Having a family member with a Substance Use Disorder puts a lot of strain on a family. Family members often try to compensate by taking on various “survival” roles. While intended to help the members get these roles lead to long-term disruptions for individuals. They influence future relationships and interactions. This is especially true for the children in the family. This is a brief overview of each role and the impact they have on individuals.
