President’s Blog: recognizing and accepting the long haul

A pandemic does not have to quarantine our personal and professional growth.

Last updated:

We’ve been psychologically holding our breath during this pandemic, hoping for change that isn’t coming soon enough for any of us. While we’re still not sure when things will return to normal, or indeed what normal will even be, it’s so important we take this moment in time to  start shifting our expectations for what the future might bring. We now know we are in this for the long haul, we must take a moment to reflect upon that and reconnect with ourselves in terms of what strength we can generate to approach the marathon now ahead. Working to accept the longer haul is a needed process. With acceptance can come a focus on what we want to do with ourselves during this time and who we want to be when this is over. A pandemic does not have to quarantine our personal and professional growth. Stop holding your breath as you wait to see what might happen. Start breathing now and start working on who you have the potential to become. Get ready for your future self.
