No one could have predicted how this pandemic would dramatically change all of our lives. We adjusted to lives of social distancing and hand sanitizing. Now, almost a year in, there is light at the end of the tunnel. We need to allow ourselves to think about change and start preparing for what is to come:
-
Prepare Now
Start thinking through the various scenarios ahead; for example: if you might be working from home forever now, what does that mean?
-
Embrace the Unknown
Don’t underestimate the overwhelming emotions associated with feeling a lack of control. How will you purposefully manage stress and get yourself in to a place where you can confidently say “I’ve got this?”
-
Set Realistic Expectations
Understand the ebb of flow associated with not knowing exactly what is coming or what to expect. You can’t plan for or control everything – cut yourself some slack and be realistic about getting some planning right and some not so right.
-
Establish Timeframes
Think forward to a certain date and sketch out what you might need to accomplish between now and then.
