Coping with the stress and anxiety born out of natural disasters

Dr. Cynthia Langtiw, Associate Department Chair, Clinical Psychology, Chicago Campus, sat down with FOX 32’s “Good Day Chicago” to discuss the best ways to talk to children about natural disasters. Saying that parents shouldn’t hide their own concerns from their children, Dr. Langtiw suggests discussing how parents are managing their fears, and talking to children about their feelings. Dr. Cynthia Lubin Langtiw is a proud alumnus of The Chicago School. She also holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology, with a focus on community psychology, from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a bachelor’s degree, with honors, in psychology from the University of Chicago. She is currently a volunteer clinical supervisor with the Chicago-based Marjorie Kovler Center for Survivors of Torture.
