\"\"Forty years ago in the heart of Chicago, a small group of psychologists came together to launch a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program. Twenty-seven specialty degrees and seven campuses later, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is a global name, poised to expand its reach. We are more than the psychology school we first opened as\u2014we\u2019re a world-class institution that is paving a new way forward.<\/p>\n

Together, we\u2019re more.<\/p>\n

As we go beyond four decades, I am proud to introduce our new national campaign: \u201cMore Than\u201d\u2014a campaign that exemplifies our mission and celebrates both our psychology roots and commitment to the future.<\/p>\n

We see this most with The Chicago School\u2019s approach to integrated health care. Our second \u201cNo Health Without Mental Health\u201d report was released this year, exploring the need for systematic change. The Chicago School is committed to further integrating both physical and mental health care.<\/p>\n

An area where this integration is being explored is with the opioid crisis here in America. Earlier this year, I had the honor of presenting at Leadership America in Washington, D.C., on how the opioid epidemic is a public health crisis. As an estimated 2.1 million people suffer from opioid use disorder, more must be done on a national level to combat this crisis.<\/p>\n

Our cover story this year, \u201cRewriting the Script,\u201d expands this narrative and suggests a possible way forward: more education for health practitioners to improve risk assessment and increased access to resources for those suffering from opioid use disorder. With this approach, true holistic care can be achieved, where a patient is treated both psychologically and physically. It is our goal as a university to continue to do our part in ending the opioid crisis once and for all.<\/p>\n

In this issue, we also explore how the changing climate has an impact on mental health; the way companies evolve to match consumer wants; how one alumna\u2019s psychological background has influenced her career, perspective, and even a children\u2019s book she wrote; and more.<\/p>\n

It has been a year of anniversaries and milestones to celebrate. As we look to the future, I feel confident that The Chicago School will continue to provide for the needs of tomorrow and make an impact on the problems of today.<\/p>\n
