(<\/span><\/b>CHICAGO<\/span><\/b>)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0(JANUARY<\/span><\/b>\u00a031<\/span><\/b>, 2020<\/span><\/b>)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>The Chicago School<\/span><\/a> is\u00a0<\/span>honored<\/span>\u00a0to be one of 119 U.S. colleges and universities<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>receiv<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>Carnegie\u00a0<\/span>Community Engagement Classification<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>This classification\u00a0<\/span>recognizes<\/span>\u00a0The Chicago School\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>deep and long-standing<\/span>\u00a0commitment\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0community\u00a0<\/span>engagement<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Community Engagement Classification is awarded following a process of self-study by each institution, which is then assessed by a national review committee led by the\u00a0<\/span>Swearer Center for Public Engagement<\/span><\/a>\u00a0at Brown University, the administrative and research home for the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification.\u202fRecipients for The Community Engagement Classification are announced every five years with two years designated for the application and review process.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>It<\/span>\u00a0is a true honor to be\u00a0<\/span>recognized\u00a0<\/span>by the Carnegie Foundation in this way,\u201d<\/span>\u00a0s<\/span>aid\u00a0<\/span>Dr. Michele Nealon, President<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0The Chicago School. \u201c<\/span>Service and community engagement are core values of our University because<\/span>\u00a0we know as members of a community, one of the best ways to\u00a0<\/span>impact\u00a0<\/span>that community is through service and giving back.<\/span>\u00a0Receiving the Carnegie Foundation Community Engagement Classification is a huge honor and we<\/span>\u00a0are most<\/span>\u00a0grateful for the recognition.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>The Chicago School originally received the Community En<\/span>gagement Classification in 2010,\u201d said Jill Glenn, LCSW, Executive Director, Community Partnerships at The Chicago School.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>Completing the recent self-study allowed us to reflect on the amazing amount of service that our students, faculty, and staff have engaged in over the last ten\u00a0<\/span>years.\u00a0 We are grateful to our partner s<\/span>ites who allow us into their communities to benefit from their expertise and knowledge.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chicago School has been committed to serving the community since it began in in 1979. Its goal has been to increase learning and research opportunities for students while benefiting the diverse communities they serve.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
