The American Psychological Association has granted The Chicago School\u2019s Clinical Psy.D. program at the Anaheim Campus accreditation until 2030. The APA is the primary programmatic accreditor in the U.S. for education and training in psychology. Accreditation from the APA verifies the program’s ability to prepare graduates to provide outstanding, evidence-based clinical service to ensure the wellbeing of the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to have reached this milestone,\u201d says The Chicago School Chief Academic Officer Ted Scholz, Ph.D. \u201cAccreditation gives students access to a broader range of internships and postdoctoral training sites and increases our graduates\u2019 employment opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program was created at the Irvine Campus\u2014which completed its move to Anaheim earlier this year\u2014in 2019 following the sudden closing of the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, as its students were at risk of being unable to finish their education. The Chicago School stepped in and hired the program\u2019s faculty and staff, working with regulators and accreditation agencies to reinstate courses, allowing former Argosy students to complete their degrees.<\/p>\n

As the former Argosy students graduated, the former faculty worked with The Chicago School to begin a new program that would become the Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program at the Anaheim Campus. The program has continued to grow.<\/p>\n

The Anaheim Campus program is The Chicago School’s fifth Clinical Psy.D. program to earn APA accreditation, joining programs at campuses in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and New Orleans.<\/p>\n
