If you find yourself more inclined to the psychology side of behavioral economics, this podcast can help you understand economic concepts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/series\/423302056\/hidden-brain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Hidden Brain&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>20 to 50 minutes<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hidden Brain&#8221; explains the underlying reasons we act and think the way we do. A recent episode \u201cThink Fast with Daniel Kahneman\u201d explores behavioral economics with one of the founding fathers of the discipline.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Behavioral Economics Books<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Read: on train rides, in waiting rooms, unwinding before bed<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nudge_(book)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cNudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>by Cass Sunstein and Richard Thaler<\/p>\n<p><em>312 pages<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sunstein and Thaler explain <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Libertarian_paternalism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">liberal paternalism<\/a>\u2014the idea that institutions can affect behavior while still giving people choices\u2014in this book. These \u201cnudges\u201d have been used to encourage better eating by offering healthy food at eye level, or to get people to be organ donors by having an opt-out donation program.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.misbehavingbook.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cMisbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>by Richard Thaler<\/p>\n<p><em>432 pages<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Published in 2015, \u201cMisbehaving\u201d is part-autobiography, part-history of behavioral economics by Richard Thaler. He builds off of and challenges some of the ideas he developed in \u201cNudge.\u201d Thaler was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nobelprize.org\/nobel_prizes\/economic-sciences\/laureates\/2017\/press.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2017 recipient<\/a> of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Predictably_Irrational\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cPredictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>by Dan Ariely<\/p>\n<p><em>304 pages<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Using anecdotes, scientific experiments, and finding, Ariely sets out to \u201chelp you fundamentally rethink what makes you and the people around you tick.\u201d He seeks to show how some mistakes are common and repetitious\u2014and how we can avoid them in order to make actual rational choices.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Ready to take the next step?
