Presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechicagoschool.edu\/\">The Chicago School,<\/a> a leading nonprofit, private university devoted exclusively to psychology, and related behavioral health sciences, the luncheon will recognize those who have improved treatment, raise public awareness, and reduce the stigma of mental illness, substance use disorders, and suicide.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Raoofi has many years of experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders and mental retardation. He applies his training in Applied Behavioral Analysis methodologies and Discrete Trial Training program to the intense psychosocial interventions he uses to treat children with these behaviors. He has been actively involved in UNICEF\u2014currently holding a UNICEF Honorary Ambassadorship\u2014Relief International, and the Human Rights Council to help disadvantaged children globally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe education is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that one can be. As an activist I have seen education\u2019s power to transform lives,\u201d said Dr. Raoofi.<\/p>\n<p>Emceed by actress Carly Chaikin, star of USA Network\u2019s Golden Globe-winning show \u201cMr. Robot\u201d and ABC\u2019s hit show <em>Suburgatory<\/em>, the luncheon will also recognize:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kim A. Bunnell, a trailblazer in healthcare whose business acumen has reshaped the National Alliance on Mental Illness &#8211; Los Angeles County.<\/li>\n<li>Dr. William A. Covino and Dr. Debbie Covino, President and First Lady, California State University, Los Angeles, who launched the <em>Mind Matters<\/em> initiative for student inner well-being and academic success.<\/li>\n<li>NBA world champion and coach Metta World Peace, who publicly shared his struggle with mental health issues and is now an advocate in fighting mental health stigma.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cDr. Raoofi exemplifies what a mental health advocate and leader in the applied behavior analysis field should be\u2014he is committed to making a difference globally, he offers his time as a volunteer, and is part of several organizations that lead professionals in the field to help others,\u201d said Michele Nealon, Psy.D., President, The Chicago School.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Raoofi holds a doctorate and master&#8217;s degree in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Northridge. He is a lifetime member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology as well as the Golden Key International Honor Society, and is a two-time recipient of the President\u2019s Volunteer Service Award.
