The 2015 commencement of The Chicago School’s Washington, D.C. Campus<\/a> marks the first time the six-year-old Campus graduates candidates from its doctoral programs. Hailing from the Clinical Psychology Program<\/a>, the International Psychology Program<\/a> and the\u00a0Organizational Leadership Program<\/a>, the new doctoral graduates will be joined by fellow graduates at the George Lisner Auditorium on October 9. The Chicago School is the leading nonprofit graduate school devoted exclusively to psychology, and related behavioral and health sciences.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very pleased that our fourth commencement ceremony includes doctoral candidates from three programs,\u201d said Heather Sheets, Psy.D., campus dean, The Chicago School, Washington, D.C. Campus. \u201cWe are proud of the work all of our students have accomplished under the faculty\u2019s leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n

Renowned scholar and researcher, Bill Harvey, Ed.D. to present keynote address<\/h3>\n

American Association for Access, Equity and Diversity Distinguished Scholar, Dr. Bill Harvey will present the keynote address. Over a career that spans 40 years, the noted researcher and administrator has focused his work on the cultural and social factors that affect underserved populations, putting particular emphasis on college and university settings.\u00a0 His extensive list of publications includes books, book chapters, refereed journal articles and professional and technical reviews. Dr. Harvey has also served as a\u00a0visiting associate at the Smithsonian Institute and as chair of the Education Advisory Committee of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.<\/p>\n

Representing her class at the ceremony, Erica Vien is a graduating doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Program. Erica\u2019s desire to work with women and children in the field of mental health led her to completing her M.A. in psychology at The Chicago School, and to completing her internship at New York City\u2019s Hamilton-Madison House, a mental health community outpatient clinic. Erica will perform her post-doctoral fellowship at private outpatient group practice The Lorenz Clinic of Family Psychology in Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Shirin Zarqa-Lederman, Online M.A. Psychology, 2010, will be honored as the The Chicago School Distinguished Alumna, and Dr. Christiane Cox will be recognized for having received the 2015 Distinguished Faculty Award for Adjunct Teaching. Retired NASA researcher, scientist and systems engineer Bill Isley, will be presented with an honorary degree.<\/p>\n
