The Chicago School<\/a> today announced that its Ed.S. School Psychology Program<\/a>, has been awarded full-approval\/national recognition status from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), a recognition of the program\u2019s demonstrated consistency with NASP standards. Giving further evidence of the program\u2019s efficacy, every student in its 2015 graduating class passed the both the Illinois State and national licensure exams.* The Chicago School is a nonprofit university, and one of the leading institutions devoted to psychology, and related behavioral and health sciences.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth of these accomplishments are indicators of the high-quality effort and work produced by our students and faculty,\u201d said\u00a0James Walsh, Ph.D<\/a>., department chair, School Psychology, Chicago Campus. \u201cObtaining approval means that The Chicago School successfully withstood a rigorous review process of every method and procedure essential to ensuring that we graduate students that are exceptionally qualified to improve the mental health and learning of children. I am extremely proud of our students and our faculty.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chicago School\u2019s program\u2019s approval begins in January 2016 and will be in effect for seven years, the maximum period granted by NASP.<\/p>\n

Offered at the institution\u2019s Chicago Campus<\/a>, the Ed.S. School Psychology program is based on an integrative-systemic model aimed at enhancing the educational experience for diverse youth populations. Students benefit from superior theoretical preparation, coupled with an unrivaled amount of real-world experience, and spend almost half of their time working in a school setting over the duration of the program. The Ed.S. School Psychology is also approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), authorizing the institution to conduct the program and recommend candidates for certification by entitlement in Illinois.<\/p>\n
