On June 26th, our nation took a momentous step forward in granting all citizens the most fundamental of human rights to marry. It is a decision that has been a long time coming, but it is welcomed across the country, not only by individuals who have been adversely affected by discriminatory laws, but by organizations and institutions that dedicate themselves to improving lives. I am proud to say that The Chicago School has–from its conception–been among those institutions.<\/p>\n

As psychology professionals, we concern ourselves daily with all aspects of society that impact the mental health and well-being of the individuals, couples and families that we serve. Diversity is at the core of who and what we are at The Chicago School, and this ruling reaffirms our commitment by claiming victory over discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.<\/p>\n

The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., \u201cThe arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.\u201d Progress can oftentimes seem to come in small steps. I have high hopes that marriage equality will eventually take its place as unquestioned proof that all people are indeed created equal in our great nation.<\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
