The fields of neuroscience and neuropsychology are rapidly evolving and, over the past 20 years, these disciplines have provided us with crucial new information. They have helped us recognize that true comprehension of mental health issues must begin with some understanding of the anatomy and processes of the brain.<\/p>\n

We still have a long way to go in integrating these physiological findings with the treatment of a wide range of psychological disorders, but at The Chicago School, we recognize that there can be \u201cNo Health Without Mental Health.\u201d<\/strong> This approach calls for an integration of mental health with all healthcare.<\/p>\n

Over the last two decades, neuroscience and neuropsychology have made rapid progressions and much of this emerging knowledge has implications for psychology, medicine, and public policy. In launching The Campaign to Change Direction<\/a>, First Lady Michele Obama had this to say: “There should be no distinction between mental and physical health. Imagine if we told folks with heart disease to buck up and get over it. My husband believes if you are fighting illness, whether it’s mental or physical, you should be able to get the help you need.”<\/p>\n
