Since the death of Trayvon Martin we&#8217;ve seen a different kind of civil rights movement. The Chicago School brings together a dynamic group of modern activists to have a nuanced discussion on the historical context behind today\u2019s racial justice movements and how it is related to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement. The discussion will touch on the topics of respectability politics, the place of women within the current movement, the difference in leadership styles\/outreach, and how this plays out in terms of the dominant narratives about black millennials.<\/p>\n<h4>Presenters:<\/h4>\n<p>Jana\u00e9 Bonsu, national policy chair, Black Youth Project 100, a collective of Black activists and organizers aged 18 to 35 dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people.<\/p>\n<p>Allen Linton, University of Chicago Ph.D. student, member of the MacArthur Research Network on Youth and Participatory Politics<\/p>\n<p>Brianna Tong, lead organizer, IIRON Student Network, a Chicago organization that brings together students at colleges across the city who are fighting for economic, racial, and gender justice, both on campus and off.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, January 20, 2016<br \/>\n12 &#8211; 1:30 p.m.<br \/>\nThe Chicago School<br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">325 N.
