{"id":6660,"date":"2016-07-12T15:24:15","date_gmt":"2016-07-12T20:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thechicagoschool.edu\/?p=6660"},"modified":"2026-03-04T15:21:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T21:21:22","slug":"memorandum-of-understanding-with-laccd-provides-new-opportunities-for-students-to-pursue-careers-in-psychology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thechicagoschool.edu\/insight\/news\/memorandum-of-understanding-with-laccd-provides-new-opportunities-for-students-to-pursue-careers-in-psychology\/","title":{"rendered":"MOU with LACCD provides new opportunities for students to pursue careers in psychology"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"clearfix\"><p><strong>(LOS ANGELES) (JULY 12, 2016)<\/strong><strong>\u2014<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechicagoschool.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Chicago School<\/a>, a leading nonprofit graduate institution devoted to psychology, and related behavioral and health sciences, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laccd.edu\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Community College District<\/a> (LACCD), the nation\u2019s largest community college district, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) providing a new educational path for LACCD students to pursue a bachelors degree in psychology. The MOU provides all active LACCD students the opportunity to transfer to The Chicago School\u2019s online <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechicagoschool.edu\/programs\/psychology\/psychology\/ba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Program<\/a> under the Transfer Admission Guarantee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to be forging such a wonderful partnership with LACCD,\u201d said Michele Nealon-Woods, Psy.D., president, The Chicago School. \u201cTheir institutional goals align with ours, the most important of which is to offer students an engaging educational experience that will serve them well in their lives and careers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An active LACCD student is defined as a student who has maintained active enrollment status and met specific transfer requirements for the 2015-2016 school year. These students are eligible for a partner tuition rate of 10% below the posted tuition costs and may be eligible for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechicagoschool.edu\/admissions\/financing-your-education\/scholarships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dean\u2019s Scholarship<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an exciting opportunity for our students to continue their education with experienced faculty and take advantage of the training opportunities The Chicago School provides,\u201d said Francisco C. Rodriguez, Ph.D., LACCD chancellor.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer criteria include maintaining a \u201cC\u201d or higher from an LACCD college, a minimum of 60 transferable semester units, 41 of which must meet specific General Education requirements; OR possess a conferred Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in a traditional academic area of study with a minimum 2.0 GPA.<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago School\u2019s online B.A. Program was first launched as a two-year completion program, but has expanded to four years. The Chicago School opened its Los Angeles campus in 2008, the first established outside of the Chicago area, and has been very successful bringing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechicagoschool.edu\/our-approach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Engaged Professional Model of Education<\/a> to Southern California.
