Robert Morris University president awarded honorary degree at 37th<\/sup> commencement ceremony.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

(CHICAGO) (JULY 19, 2016) \u201cIf you\u2019re going to be a good leader, you need to be self-aware; get a Ph.D. in yourself,\u201d were the words of advice Dr. Christopher B. Howard gave to the more than 430 students graduating from The Chicago School’s Chicago Campus<\/a>, which offers courses in 29 different<\/a> psychology and behavioral programs and concentrations. The Chicago School<\/a> is one of the leading nonprofit graduate universities devoted exclusively to the study of psychology, and related behavioral health sciences.<\/p>\n

Dr. Howard, who earned a doctorate in politics from the University of Oxford, an M.B.A. with distinction from Harvard Business School and is currently the eighth president of Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at The Chicago Campus\u2019 37th<\/sup> commencement ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were honored to have a scholar of Dr. Howard\u2019s distinction address our graduating students, who are ready to go out into the world and become change makers in our profession,\u201d said Dr. Tiffany Masson, campus dean, The Chicago School\u2019s Chicago Campus. \u201cHis many accomplishments \u2013 university president, presidential appointee, Rhodes scholar \u2013 to name just a few, as well as his words of wisdom greatly resonated with our students and provided hope for many of their ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vanessa Hicks, a Clinical Psychology Psy.D. Program<\/a> graduate also spoke at the ceremony. A proponent of multicultural psychology, Hicks is a fellow at The Chicago School\u2019s Center for Multicultural and Diversity Studies<\/a> and a member of the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society<\/a>. She has already presented at several conferences including at APA Division 32 Society for Humanistic Psychology\u2019s annual convention in 2015.<\/p>\n

Orson Morrison, Psy.D., a 2003 Clinical Psychology graduate was recognized with the 2016 Distinguished Alumnus Award.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was honored to be asked by this august institution to serve as speaker,\u201d Dr. Howard said to the applause of the audience. \u201cMental health is so important. Thank you for going into this noble profession. Thank you for your service.\u201d<\/p>\n
